Usability Testing, Web Application Testing

Mobile QA testing may consist of many things and if some are already usual the others are getting into trend with ten-mile wide steps. Many customers are now wishing for their apps and sites to be responsive or, at least, transferred to a mobile platform. And there is no wonder! Many people are now operating mobile devices even more often than their desktop counterparts. And those users are not to be missed.

So to start things simple we are to deal what is required for testing of responsive websites. You wish all to work on a set of devices, OS’s and screen-sizes, right? That means you will require all those devices, but it will be ridiculously expensive. What to do? It’s either buying every single possible mobile device or, oh no! Wait a second, there are other options. First of all there are outsourcing companies, secondly there are cloud services and the last, but not least environment emulators.

What has to be considered while testing responsiveness?

There are several key issues any tester should pay extra attention to. Issues as:

  • The boundary of the text box (meaning the text is willing to get outside of the boundary)
  • Text merged with content
  • The logo size
  • Font sizes
  • Buttons scattered in chaos
  • Input fields margin is not of top performance which causes potential alignment issues
  • Graphic animation sizes may cause some trouble as well

What needs to be done for things to flow smoother?

First of all CSS has to make the design flexible. There are several techniques to achieve such exact results:

  • There have to be minimum and maximum image values pre-set by developers. And they have to be in percentage thus the image is remaining adjustable to almost any screen size.
  • Use relative values for your content’s size. That means values are to be in em or %.
  • There is a handy thing like the word-warp property which is allowing the words to be broken and to wrap onto the next line. Sweet.
